Naming Mae

As most of you know we enjoyed keeping you in suspense when it came to naming baby number two. The truth is, we really didn’t know what we wanted to name her! We would look at/talk about names and write down ones we liked, but nothing ever really popped out. Mae was on our list from the beginning, but as time went on it got pushed farther down our list. We decided to wait until she was born and we could hold her/look at her to get a better feeling about what to name her.

That is just what we did. I was holding her and saying some of our top names out loud and none of them seemed to click. When I said “Mae,” Peter and I looked at each other and we knew it was the name for her. We played around with the name a little, and went back through the others to be sure, but there was something about Mae that stood out to us . A lot of people probably have this experience, but that wasn’t how it was with Chloe, so I thought it was neat to have her name come to us this way. Ethel is my Mom’s name (who is named after her Grandma… right Mom?) for those who don’t know and we wanted our first two girls to be named after their Grandma’s. Well, there you have it… nothing too spectacular, no real correlation to anything, just a feeling. Mae.
