Tranquilizers Anyone?
Okay, so I have to share my experience that happened at the Doctor’s today. It was quite amusing. To give a bit of a background, I’ve had some varying symptoms (since I was about 18) that more than anything just irritate me- major fatigue, nausea, dizzy/lightheaded, losing hair, always thirsty, etc… A lot of the times they are basic flu like symptoms, or pregnancy symptoms (NO I am not pregnant), and by now I am just ready to get to the bottom of it. So I am thinking it is probably a thyroid problem (dad and 2 sisters have it), but my blood results were normal. So anyways, when I saw the doctor today I was really hoping he would help me get to the bottom of things. He was very nice and seemed truly concerned. The only problem is that I wasn’t exactly thrilled with the solutions he came up with for my “problems.” He asked me a round of questions about my personal life (I was thinking maybe I had gone to the wrong kind of doctor) like are you depressed? What do you worry about? How are things at home? Etc.. In the very bitter end he had 2 options for me. 1) I could see a behavioral counselor and 2) I could take some medication. “What kind of medication, exactly?” I asked. “Oh, just a small dose of tranquilizers.” HA! Could this guy really be serious? Tranquilizers? I thought I had made it clear that things were more than fine in my personal life, and I don't feel stressed or anxious. Maybe he wasn't listening. Well, since that was all he had to offer, I politely turned him down and decided what the heck. I will just live with my symptoms. I really don’t like going to the doctor and today just reaffirmed that for me. Oh well. I came home with a funny story to tell. Tranquilizers, anyone? :)

What a bum doctor! I definitely think you should get a second opinion.
Well, it is always nice to have tranquilizers on hand for crazy kids. Just teasing. You should see an endocrinologist.
Nuh-huh! I seriously cannot believe that. It makes absolutely no sense. You must give me more details when we're together!
This is so true. I totally think doctors hear what they want to and then act accordingly. It wasn't until I moved here that I found doctors I LOVE. So, maybe it's just California doctors? Good luck and I hope you feel better.
I loved the Christmas beginning. That was just what I needed. Your tranquilizer story was very easy to relate too. Been there, done that! Don't give up!
Thanksgiving was so fun.
See ya soon.

Tranquilizer? You're not a horse! Good thing you didn't listen to the nutty doc!
