February 2014

It's a wrap! I'm on month 2 and am still managing to remember my goal of blogging and picture taking. Again, you probably have to click the button to see more since the post is so long. Here's our February in review

At 5 months old little Si guy tried some avacado. I would say .01% made it into his mouth. He looks happy, though! I have let him gnaw on a cucumber, carrot and apple at various times just for fun, but in March I am planning to more officially introduce people food. I'm still trying to mentally prepare for the new messes I will be dealing with (out of both ends!)

What is this weird stuff?

I might as well give it a try

I'm not sure what just happened but it was fun!
Here's to more organizing! This month I focused on the girls room. We got rid of a LOT of toys we don't use, and organized/labeled the ones we do. As a family we are working on simplifying our lives and finding more purpose in the things that really matter instead of just things. I will be blogging (possibly starting a new blog) on this journey later. When I get time. Someday...

Happy Valentine's Day!
I found a fun idea on pinterest and did a construction paper heart for Chloe Mae & Peter from Feb 1st- Feb 14th with something I love about them. Here is a picture of Chloe' s hearts about mid-month. Oh, and my awesome husband made me breakfast on a hectic Valentine's day morning. He is amazing like that. He also brought me breakfast in bed this morning for no reason at all (except he loves me. I'm so lucky).

Someone lost a tooth! Miss Chloe had a loose tooth for several days. It bothered her a little, but she definitely did not want us to pull it out. One night before dinner she came to me calmly with a strawberry in one hand and a bloody tooth in the other. She was ecstatic to be like so many of the other kids at school. Oh and the tooth fairy pulled through. Chloe came and tapped my shoulder at 6am to let me know :)
Daddy to the rescue! Stopping the blood

Happy girl!

It's not every day you lose your tooth on a strawberry :)

Aunt Amy came to visit!
My sister, Amy flew in from Wyoming to spend the holiday weekend in warmer weather. We went to the temple (her closest is 5 hours away!) got our nails done, ate out, and talked and talked and talked! It was so much fun. I am so glad to have such a great family.

I had to add this picture because Si and I wore matching purple at Church and because I just love him so much I could eat him up! I love having a boy, especially a snuggly one.

Another visitor! My best friend from high school, Kori stopped by on her way to Arizona. She stayed and talked with me for four hours despite a trip to the bus stop and a flux of kids who came to play while she was here. It was wonderful to catch up. Again, I'm feeling blessed for great friends and family.

The most exciting thing this month in our household was this Angel's birthday! Mae turned the big F-O-U-R, and she certainly is growing up. She requested friends at the park, Hello Kitty cupcakes (blue frosting for the boys and pink for the girls), and she wanted us to make sure to get TWO poodle purses so that her sister Chloe would have one and not be sad. She is a sweetie and we love her to pieces! Happy Birthday Mae!

4 year olds can still use the baby swing!

Sharing her presents with Chloe

Our Angel! She kept asking "is it still my birthday?" It was a fun day

One final thing-Chloe wrote us her first letter. I was very proud of her, not only for being able to write as well as she did, but to express her feelings. If I recall, she got in trouble around bedtime, and then she called Peter and I in separately to read the note.

It is a picture of Peter and I sticking our tongues out (I know, right?) at Chloe and she has a sad face. Then it says. "Chloe is sad. Mom doesn't like Chloe anymore. Dad doesn't like Chloe anymore. Chloe is sadder."
I'll be honest, initially it broke my heart! I scooped her up and gave her some loves, and had a long talk with her about how we will always love her, but we are not happy when she makes poor choices. I told her when I was a little girl my mom and I would write notes to each other to help express our feelings and encouraged her to keep writing.

It's hard being a parent. The older my kids get, the more I worry about the things they will face. Sigh. Thank goodness God is in our lives to help guide us in such an important task!

Until March! XO
